딱딱하고 차갑고 무거워 보이는 것들이 손안에서 말랑해진다면 어떨까요?

더웻이 정은형 작가(@eunhyungchung03)와 함께 물질의 익숙한 성질을 뒤집어 생각을 말랑하게 할 워크숍을 준비했습니다.
딱딱하고 차갑고 거칠고 무거운 사물의 ‘본래 성질’을 뒤집어, 말랑하고 부드럽고 유연한 촉감의 오브제로 다시 만들어봅니다.
참가자는 익숙한 사물을 새롭게 디자인하고, 조각과 몰드 제작, 실리콘 캐스팅과 슬라임 충전 과정을 거쳐 자신만의 말랑이를 완성합니다.

📅 회차별 수업 소개
(8/2) 수업 1일 차 - 단단한 것을 말랑하게 상상하기
말랑이로 바꾸고 싶은 사물을 선택해 디자인한 뒤, 유토로 원형을 조각합니다.

(8/9) 수업 2일차 - 피부와 내부 만들기
완성된 유토 원형을 떠낼 석고 몰드를 제작하고,
딱딱해진 석고 몰드에 실리콘을 부어 말랑이의 외피를 제작합니다.

(8/16) 수업 3일 차 - 촉감의 반전 완성하기
말랑이 내부에 들어갈 슬라임과 크런치를 직접 조합해보며 색과 점도, 촉감을 실험합니다.
이후 굳은 실리콘 외피를 몰드에서 분리하고, 내부에 촉감 재료를 채운 뒤 입구를 마감합니다.
완성된 나만의 작품의 이름과 특징을 정해봅니다.

🎨 작가 소개
정은형 작가는서울을 기반으로 활동하는 조각가이자 퍼포머입니다.
작가이자 교육자, 기획자로 활동하며, 조각과 퍼포먼스 외에도 괴담 서사,
시, 영상 등 다양한 범주의 예술 형태로 작업적 실험을 이어 나가고 있습니다.

Reimagining the Hard: Sculpting a Custom Squishy
Flip the "original properties" of hard, cold, rough, and heavy objects by recreating them as soft, smooth, and flexible tactile art.

In this workshop, participants will redesign familiar, everyday objects. Through the processes of sculpting, mold-making, silicone casting, and slime-filling, everyone will bring their very own custom "squishy" to life.

📅 Weekly Curriculum
(8/2) Day 1 — Imagining the Hard as Soft
Select an everyday object you want to transform into a squishy, design your concept, and sculpt the master prototype using oil clay.

(8/9) Day 2 — Creating the Skin and the Mold
Fabricate a plaster mold to cast the finished oil clay prototype, and pour silicone into the hardened plaster mold to create the outer skin of the squishy.

(8/16) Day 3 — Completing the Tactile Twist
Experiment with colors, viscosity, and textures by mixing your own custom slime and crunches to go inside the squishy. Next, demold the hardened silicone skin, fill it with your textured mixture, and seal the opening. Finally, give your finished custom creation its own unique name and characteristics.

🎨 Meet the Artist
Eun-hyung Jung is a Seoul-based sculptor and performer. Active as an artist, educator, and organizer, she continues her artistic experimentation across a wide range of mediums—including sculpture, performance, ghost lore narratives, poetry, and video.
